OAKLAND, Calif. -- Albert Pujols, Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo each drove in two runs to power the Los Angeles Angels past the Oakland Athletics 8-3 on Thursday night. C.J. Wilson (11-6) allowed three runs and five hits in seven innings for his third straight victory -- the past two against Dan Straily (6-4) and the As. He struck out six and walked three. Josh Hamilton was 1 for 5 with an RBI after missing three games with a stiff right ankle for the Angels, who had scored just seven runs total while losing three of their previous four. The last time an opponent scored at least eight runs at the Oakland Coliseum was when the Angels lost 10-8 in 19 innings on April 29. Derek Norris hit his sixth home run of the season and added another RBI, but Straily struggled on the mound after Oakland took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. Straily gave up five runs and seven hits in 4 1-3 innings, striking out five and walking two. The As remain a season-high three games ahead of Texas in the AL West after the Rangers lost 2-0 to the Yankees. The Angels are 10 games back of Oakland. Los Angeles began a seven-game road trip at Oakland and Texas by finding some much-needed pop at the plate, getting 12 hits and finishing 6 for 11 with runners in scoring position. The As, meanwhile, opened a 10-game homestand with just six hits. Both teams still had to manufacture runs -- the Angels just made it look so much easier. J.B. Shuck reached on a fielders choice, advanced to second on Strailys wild pitch and scored on Pujols two-out single to give the Angels a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Pujols finished 3 for 4. In the fourth, Yoenis Cespedes walked, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout and scored the tying run sliding feet-first into Wilsons legs blocking the plate after a wild pitch. Cespedes held his right leg in the dugout, grimacing, but stayed in the game. Norris hit an RBI single later in the inning to give the As a 2-1 lead. The runs ended Wilsons string of 12 straight scoreless innings against the As in the past week. He had tossed 8 1-3 innings of three-hit ball in a 2-0 win against Oakland on July 20 in Anaheim, by far his best performance of the season. This time, the Angels offence carried the day in Wilsons win. Trout hit a sacrifice fly, Hamilton added an RBI single and Trumbo lined a two-run double to left-centre to put the Angels ahead 5-2 in the fifth. The Angels hit five straight singles to start the sixth, pushing across three more runs for an 8-2 lead. Norris, who earned the start at catcher after John Jaso was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list before the game, hit a solo shot on the first pitch from Wilson in the bottom of the inning. Dane De La Rosa pitched a perfect eighth and new reliever J.C. Gutierrez tossed a scoreless ninth for the Angels. NOTES: The Angels designated RHP Billy Buckner for assignment to clear space on the 25-man roster for Gutierrez, who was claimed off waivers from Kansas City on Wednesday. ... The As recalled Stephen Vogt from Triple-A Sacramento before the game to fill Jasos roster spot. Jaso was taken out in the eighth inning of Oaklands 4-3 win Wednesday at Houston after taking a ball off his mask and complaining of a headache. ... The As send Bartolo Colon (13-3, 2.52 ERA) to the mound against Angels RHP Jerome Williams (5-6, 4.73 ERA) on Friday. LOS ANGELES -- A woman accusing NBA star Derrick Rose of rape cannot remain anonymous at her upcoming civil trial, a Los Angeles judge ruled Tuesday.Lawyers for the woman, who is identified in court documents as Jane Doe, argued that her privacy should be protected because she is vulnerable and she has already been harassed after her name was leaked.U.S. District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald said the law was very clear on the issue and he wouldnt close his courtroom to protect her identity. He said any decision by the news media about whether to name her is a journalistic decision. The Associated Press typically does not identify alleged victims of sexual abuse. The woman sued Rose last year, claiming the former MVP and two of his friends raped her in August 2013 while she was incapacitated after a night of drinking. Rose and the others deny her claims and contend they had consensual sex with her that night. The 30-year-old college student told the AP that her family knew nothing about her involvement with Rose or the lawsuit seeking $21.5 million and she wanted to keep it that way and avoid the spotlight. But Roses lawyer wanted her name made public and cited interviews and a news teleconference she conducted as Jane Doe last week as a reason to use her real name.Rose, 27, is one of the NBAs most prominent, but injury-prone, stars. He played his first seven seasons in Chicago, winning Rookie of the Year and, in 2011, MVP honors. He is in his first season with the New York Knicks after being traded in the final year of a five-year deal with Chicago that will pay him $21.3 million.Rose and the woman dated non-exclusively for nearly two years before the alleged rape.Lawyers for the woman said outside court that they were disappointed shed lose her anonymity at trial.Attorney Waukeen McCoy said it was just another way the defense has tried to pressure her to drop the lawsuit, including an attempt to depose her parents. Its not unheard of for a plaintiff to be granted anonymity in a sensitive maatter, said attorney Doug Mirell, who is not involved in the case.ddddddddddddThere are plenty of examples in civil and criminal law where parties or witnesses have been granted anonymity, such as the plaintiff in Roe v. Wade, witnesses in mob trials or third parties who were sexual assault victims. Its also likely for that protection to later be challenged. In the Rose case, it wasnt as clear cut that the accuser needed to remain nameless.I think the finger, if not the hand, is on the side of the scale that says identify, Mirell said.Soon after Fitzgerald ruled on the issue of the womans identity, Roses attorney, Mark Baute, revealed the womans name and was warned by the judge that she would remain anonymous until trial. He had her name struck from the record. When Baute said her name a second time, Fitzgerald issued a stern rebuke and ordered him to write an explanation of why he shouldnt be sanctioned $1,000.Do not test my patience, Fitzgerald said.Baute said it was an accident.Interest in the case has grown as the Oct. 4 trial nears, especially in light of several high-profile cases of women who say they were raped while incapacitated. The six-month jail term for ex-Stanford swimmer Brock Turner for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman sparked a public outcry over the punishment. Bill Cosby is fighting allegations by dozens of women who say he drugged and sexually abused them.Former NFL All-Pro safety Darren Sharper was sentenced to more than 18 years in federal prison in August after he pleaded no contest to charges he drugged and raped women in four states. There have been no criminal charges in Roses case. The woman went to Los Angeles police two years after the incident and so far no evidence has been forwarded to the district attorneys office for review and possible prosecution.---Associated Press Writer Anthony McCartney contributed to this report.
