The Way-Too-Early Top 25 rankings for next season in college basketball have been updated, and with that, weve decided to look beyond the on-the-court talent and see what lies in the future. Which players, after they get done walking the walk, will talk the talk? We look at the next great broadcaster on each of the nations best teams.1. Duke Blue Devils: Amile Jefferson The senior forward already has a solid template of former Blue Devils-turned-analysts/broadcasters to follow. His trademark would probably come from his willingness to call it like he sees it. Hes already getting plenty of practice doing that on the court, where before he was injured last season, he was the unequivocal floor leader for the Blue Devils. Jefferson is the voice his teammates hear, in addition to the coaches, if something needs to be corrected. -- C.L. Brown2. Villanova Wildcats: Kris Jenkins Even before he made the shot to win the national title, Jenkins earned the nickname Big Smoove, thanks to Fox play-by-play man Gus Johnson. Though publicly quiet, Jenkins has a sharp wit that hes not afraid to share and always appears to be hiding a secret. Hed be the cool-cat version of an analyst. -- Dana ONeil3. Kentucky Wildcats: Bam Adebayo Gregarious big men seem to find more success in the broadcast world than their peers who played on the perimeter. Shaquille ONeal, Chris Webber, Charles Barkley and Bill Walton all retained the prominence they enjoyed in their basketball careers when they became on-air talents after retirement. Adebayo competes with a raw intensity that turned the 6-foot-9, 260-pound talent into a five-star recruit. Off the court, the world seems to orbit around the freshman who cant stop smiling. Fans want his autograph and his teammates cling to his energy. Plus, his nickname is Bam because he flipped a coffee table while watching the The Flintstones when he was a kid. And then theres this Adebayo comment from a recent CoachCal.com video: Ill just listen to my Katy Perry and keep it moving. Put him on TV. -- Myron Medcalf4. Kansas Jayhawks: Josh Jackson Though just a freshman, Jackson has already built a formidable reputation for talking a good game. Take it from The Undefeateds Marc J. Spears: His name is Josh Jackson, and he possesses both a standout game that could make him the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NBA draft and trash-talking skills that already compete with the likes of all-star yappers [Gary] Payton and Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors. Any 19-year-old who can, as Jackson himself put it, talk smack to a Hall of Famer like Payton has the self-confidence necessary to project an authoritative aura on the airwaves. You can look forward to seeing Jackson doing the analysis on a college game near you once he gets this whole playing thing out of the way. -- John Gasaway5. Virginia Cavaliers: Jack Salt Who wouldnt like a little Kiwi flavor in a broadcast? The redshirt sophomore center is a native of Auckland, New Zealand, and still has his accent fully intact. Salt would literally bring a distinctive voice to calling names, and his metaphors and vernacular might take some time to get used to hearing. But every game he called would be like getting an international education. -- Brown6. North Carolina Tar Heels: Theo Pinson We already know Pinson isnt shy. He memorably crashed the Tar Heels pregame press conference before the regional final of the NCAA tournament, walking on the dais and asking where his seat was (um, only starters, Theo). A baffled and amused Roy Williams said he was fairly certain hed never seen that happen in all his years of coaching. -- ONeil7. Oregon Ducks: Dillon Brooks Throughout the NCAA tournament, Oregons star guard led his teammates with his production and his passion. Before the Ducks defeated Duke in the Elite Eight, the Canadian standout told the world he did not fear the Blue Devils. Then he scored 22 points and connected on 4-of-9 beyond the arc. He also trash-talked Duke throughout the game, which led to the mini-controversy over what coach Mike Krzyzewski said to Brooks in the handshake line. Brooks is brash. And thats a great quality for any broadcaster. As an analyst, he wouldnt hold back. Who wants to see an analyst with dry commentary? We love Bill Walton because you know hes ignoring anything his producers are suggesting through his earpiece. Charles Barkley just hops onto his soapbox and rants. Thats attractive. Brooks has that quality. If he has something to say, youll know it. -- Medcalf8. Wisconsin Badgers: Nigel Hayes Hayes will be the Bill Walton of college hoops announcers in the 2050s. Whether its his memorable press conferences, his winning ways on social media, or even his feats of renown on the basketball court itself, its clear that this is Hayes trajectory -- nay, his destiny. In 40 years hell be courtside waxing nostalgic about how back in his day young people used good old-fashioned Snapchat and didnt need all this fancy-schmancy thought teleportation that the kids are using nowadays. All Hayes will require is a catchphrase ... Onomatopoeia? -- Gasaway9. Xavier Musketeers: Edmond Sumner Big smile, sharp dresser, Sumner already looks the TV part. Hes also been through the rigors of college basketball -- a bad injury, that scary fall at Villanova, and then the surprising out-of-world talent that turned everyones head -- and hed had have plenty of insight into the game. -- ONeil10. Michigan State Spartans: Lourawls Tum Tum Nairn With a nickname like Tum Tum, Nairn would bring a blend of personality and life experience to the broadcast booth. He could speak on his journey from the Bahamas to sharing a Florida house with 20 other hoop dreamers at a diploma mill basketball academy. Hed be the kind of storyteller who would keep an audience captivated for what was next. -- Brown11. Indiana Hoosiers: Collin Hartman This past summer, Hartman completed an internship with a Greek restaurant in Bloomington. An experience like that can give a future college hoops analyst a go-to fund of anecdotes and vignettes, a bit like Dick Vitale and his stint as head coach of the Detroit Pistons. More practically, Hartman has recognized that going into restaurant management after college could be one of the most competitive businesses you can get into. That is so true?-- a career in announcing may be a cakewalk by comparison. -- Gasaway12. Arizona Wildcats: Parker Jackson-Cartwright Coach Sean Miller will again field a team thats capable of winning the Pac-12 title and making a deep run in the NCAA tournament. He needs Jackson-Cartwright to help lead an athletic, explosive group that includes Ray Smith?(who missed last season due to injury), Allonzo Trier and Kobi Simmons. Jackson-Cartwright finished the 2015-16 season with assists on more than one-quarter of his possessions. The point guard understands the game, and thats the most significant quality for an analyst. During interviews, hes always thoughtful and measured with his responses. Every broadcast needs a guy to balance the Waltons and Barkleys out there. Jackson-Cartwright does that on the court, and he could do the same in front of the camera. -- Medcalf13. Louisville Cardinals: Donovan Mitchell Upon reading projections that Duke was the likely preseason No. 1 team, Mitchell took to Instagram. He posted a picture of himself nearly inside a Duke huddle with an emoji caption and greater than symbols that implied Louisville would be better. That sums up why Mitchell would do well behind a microphone. Hed be unafraid to make those statements that go against popular opinion. -- Brown14. Purdue Boilermakers: Spike Albrecht Imagine him sitting back, getting all Walton-esque as he spins a few yarns from his Final Four experience -- you know, the one where he came out of nowhere to stun Rick Pitino and practically steal the game away from Louisville and then proceeded to call out Kate Upton. Who knows? Maybe he could even get Upton to sit in for a segment. -- ONeil15. West Virginia Mountaineers: Teyvon Myers He averaged just 2.4 PPG in less than 10 minutes per game last season. But the seniors limited playing time didnt stop him from encouraging his teammates from the sideline. Hes the energy guy for the Mountaineers. His pregame wisecracks and in-game emotion lift the entire arena. Hes the guy who, from the bench, begs fans to stand and cheer. Myers says his junior college coaches would often tell him to sit down and relax on the bench. So hed grab a cup of water and pretend to drink just so he could remain on his feet. You can feel the energy from a good on-air personality. This is not something Myers would wrestle with as an analyst. -- Medcalf16. Gonzaga Bulldogs: Przemek Karnowski Karnowski has the depth of experience any announcer needs. He has logged not four but five seasons in college, rehabbed to overcome a significant injury, reached an Elite Eight and even represented his country of origin (Poland) in the European championships. If Karnowski is doing the analysis on a game someday and the action on the court turns into a blowout, his rich and varied biography will give him the ability to fill the air time. -- Gasaway17. UCLA Bruins: Lonzo Ball Like your broadcasts peppered with pop-culture references? Ball would be the guy youd want calling a game. (Check out his #sogonechallenge on Twitter @Zo2.) Ball would not be the type to make every outcome seem so dramatic. Hed keep it lighthearted and fun. -- Brown18. Maryland Terrapins: Jaylen Brantley/Jared Nickens Sorry, you cant take one without the other. The two guys who turned the Running Man Challenge into a viral video craze showed their offbeat humor in their initial throwdown to other college players. Plus, theyve already appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. They wouldnt be intimidated talking on camera. -- ONeil19. Saint Marys Gaels: Dane Pineau Randy Bennett coached two of the stars on Australias national team, Matthew Dellavedova and Patty Mills, at Saint Marys. The duo helped their team push the American squad to the brink in the Olympics. Bennetts 2016-17 squad is also loaded with Australian talent. The Gaels are the West Coasts most underrated team entering the season. Pineau, who averaged 11.3 PPG and 8.1 RPG last season, should help the Gaels compete for the West Coast Conference title again. Hes also the teams top prospect for a career in television. The Australians accent helps. Plus, hes eclectic. In this interview, he admits hes a fan of Friends and DJ Khaled. What else do you need to know? -- Medcalf20. Creighton Bluejays: Maurice Watson, Jr. A point guard who arrived in Omaha by way of his native Philadelphia and then Boston University, Watson has summed up a broadcast personalitys role succinctly (even if he was talking about basketball). I just want to get everybody involved, Watson has said. I want to get the basketball in the right spot and be the catalyst. Sounds like a true announcing star in the making. -- Gasaway21. Rhode Island Rams: Hassan Martin/E.C Matthews These two would have to be hired as a pair. The Rams leaders have been compared to the iconic Nintendo game brothers Mario and Luigi, but a more fitting nickname might be Yin and Yang. Martin and Matthews are two different personalities, and when theyre ?together, they shine brighter as a tandem. -- Brown22. Cincinnati Bearcats: Kyle Washington Known for his high energy and high motor, Washington could bring the same verve to a broadcast. A self-described extrovert, you have to think the NC State transfer wouldnt be shy about sharing an opinion or two, either. -- ONeil23. Florida State Seminoles: Xavier Rathan-Mayes Its not easy to excel on TV. Sure, producers and crew members all help. But its kind of like writing without the ability to erase anything youve said. Thats a difficult spotlight for anyone on TV, even those who are trained. Many athletes have failed as broadcasters because they couldnt handle that consistent pressure. Rathan-Mayes could pursue a career in broadcast because he understands the demands that come with that spotlight. Hes playing at a university where his father, Tharon Mayes, recorded numbers that made him one of the greatest players in school history. Xavier wasnt afraid to follow that legacy. He faces questions about his fathers career every year. And he handles all of them with class and honesty. Thats why hed excel on TV if he decided to go that route after hes done with basketball. -- Medcalf24. Connecticut Huskies: Rodney Purvis Purvis is comfortable being the voice of veteran experience in a storied program he transferred into (from NC State) three years ago. During the offseason, the senior point guard took two of his newly arrived teammates out on a date, explaining that he wanted Juwan Durham and Vance Jackson to know Ive got their back, no matter what. This is what announcers do. They show initiative, go out to eat, and keep a close watch on who pays the tab -- They were surprised when I paid for the food, Purvis said -- for possible deployment as on-air ribbing at a later date. -- Gasaway25. Syracuse Orange: Tyler Lydon Some of the best basketball commentators throughout the years have been the ones who were the most unpredictable. Lydon fits that mold. Who knows if hed show up for a broadcast sporting that thin mustache, which has its own Twitter account. He just may weave hunting and fishing analogies into the game hes covering, since hed probably rather be outdoors anyway. Lydon has a dry wit about him that could make for entertaining banter, even during a blowout game. -- BrownFake Jerseys For Sale .S. hockey team after paying his dues as an NHL general manager for more than three decades and giving up a lot of his free time to help USA Hockey. Fake Jerseys . -- Former San Diego Chargers safety Paul Oliver was found dead at his Atlanta-area home Tuesday night, and a medical examiner said Wednesday that the ex-player committed suicide. https://www.fakejersey.com/ . The defence is doing its part, too. Drew Brees threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first half and the guys on the other side made sure that was enough, sending the Saints to a 17-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night. Fake Jerseys From China . Varlamov made 33 saves and Ryan OReilly had a goal and scored in the shootout as the Avalanche beat the New Jersey Devils 2-1 on Thursday night. Wholesale Fake Jerseys .C. at the helm of the top team in the Eastern Conference. His tenure as the GM in Vancouver was all too brief. Though he led the Canucks to what was then a franchise record-shattering campaign in just his second season, Nonis was gone and replaced one year later. Each week of the NFL campaign we will sift through the deeper options at each position with an eye on identifying streaming fantasy commodities with valuable matchups to consider.Do you need replacement options due to byes or injuries? We have some choice names to consider for those seeking widely available options at each position.Quarterback?Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers Kaepernick leads the pack this week among quarterbacks who are owned in less than 20 percent of ESPN.com leagues.? Kaepernick has demonstrated over his last two games that he is a serviceable option, scoring more than 20 fantasy points in both outings.? This week, hell draw the New England Patriots, whose lack of a pass rush was extremely apparent on Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks.? While Russell Wilson is obviously a better quarterback than Kaepernick, if theres any player in the NFL who mirrors Wilsons skill set, its Kaepernick.? Look for Kaepernick to own garbage time, as the likelihood of him seeing a prevent defense with no pass rush is high, based on the overall differential between the 49ers and the Patriots. -- K.D. ?Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs ?The Chiefs won at Carolina in Week 10 despite not scoring a touchdown, the first time the franchise has achieved this rare feat since Week 9 of 2013. Smith has struggled in averaging just 152.5 passing yards over the past two games, while the absence of rushing production this season has also hurt his fantasy stock. The reason Im endorsing Smith as a viable streaming option at signal-caller is the favorable matchup metrics he enjoys against the visiting Bucs this week. Tampa has ceded 18 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, seventh most in the league, while the team has allowed a touchdown on 24.8 percent of opposing drives, well above the league average rate of 21.2 percent. The Bucs simply dont get to the opposing pocket on defense, as their pressure rate of 22.2 percent ranks 29th in the league. A positive correction in the passing game is due for Smith and the Chiefs, while a position as home favorites against a generous defensive foe is an ideal recipe for this to materialize. -- J.M. ?Running back?Jalen Richard, Oakland RaidersAmong running backs who are owned in less than a fifth of ESPN.com leagues, the cupboard is almost completely bare.? If you are in the deepest of leagues and need a desperation play at this position, your best course of action is looking for someone who is certain to see at least five touches and possibly more, based on how his game flows.? This week, Richard fits the bill.? Richard has 17 touches for 109 yards from scrimmage over his last two games.? Richard will face the Houston Texans, who are nowhere close to being the defensive force they were with J.J. Watt on the field.? In fact, the Texans are actually a juicy matchup for opposing running backs, as they rank eighth in terms of most fantasy points scored by opposing running backs. -- K.D.?Kenneth Dixon, Baltimore Ravens A gifted receiver, Dixon led all draft-eligible backs in the NCAA last season with 2.28 yards per route and earned the highest grade among positional draft prospects in the passing phase on College Football Focus last season. Dixon is earning increased snap exposure and touches with each successive week, as he set a career high with 80 yards from scrimmage in Week 10, thanks to a career high in snaps. The talented rookie also tied for the team lead in targets, netting a reception on a team-best 41.7 percent of his routes this past week. The selling point for Dixon as a streaming flex option or deep-league RB2 is the potential to again prove busy in the passing phase. The team simply hasnt established a successful running game in weeks, and this week, the game script should trend pass-heavy, as the Ravens are sizable road dogs facing a Dallas offense that is averaging the most points per drive on offense. -- J.M.?Wide receiver?Cameron Meredith, Chicago Bears? The news of Alshon Jeffreys four-game suspension makes Meredith an immediate must-add in all league formats.? Meredith will become the Bears No. 1 wide receiver and should see at least seven targets per game while Jeffrey is gone.? The Bears draw the New York Giants, who going into Monday nights game against the Cincinnati Bengals had allowed more than 22 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers in standard scoring systems.? With Eddie Royal as the only established presence in the Bears wide receiving corps, Meredith is positioned for success this weeek and moving forward.dddddddddddd -- K.D.Robert Woods, Buffalo Bills Since Sammy Watkins went down, Woods has led the Bills with a? 24 percent share of the teams targets since the start of Week 3. The fact Woods hauled in six receptions on passes of at least 10 yards downfield -- a career high on such targets -- against a sound Seattle secondary in Week 9 is also encouraging. While he hasnt delivered strong statistics each week, the opportunity rate helps support WR3 expectations for Woods in this meeting with a Bengals secondary that ranks 28th in pass coverage per Pro Football Focus. -- J.M.Tight end?Ladarius Green, Pittsburgh Steelers After missing the first nine weeks of the NFL season, Green finally made his debut with the Steelers in Week 10. The results were encouraging, as Green caught three of his four targets for 30 yards. Green was brought in to fill the Heath Miller role and figures to see at least four targets per game.? This week, hell have the best matchup he could hope for as the Steelers face the Cleveland Browns, who have allowed the greatest number of fantasy points per game to tight ends.? This game will be Greens coming out party in Pittsburgh, take advantage of it. -- K.D.Cameron Brate, Tampa Bay Buccaneers For the second straight week, Im endorsing Brate, who is still owned in less than 40 percent of ESPN leagues as of Tuesday morning. Brate is third in targets and second in receiving yardage for Tampa over the past four games and has hauled in an impressive 85.7 percent of his targets over this stretch. The Harvard product also leads the team in red zone targets with five over the past four games. Seventh in fantasy points per game at the position over the past month, Brate is a viable streaming option this Sunday in Arrowhead. -- J.M.D/ST?Miami Dolphins?Grabbing the Dolphins D/ST off the waiver wire is highly recommended, even if you dont need a streaming option this week.? During their last three games, the Dolphins have demonstrated the ability to bring substantial pressure to the passing pocket.? The results have been clear: 10 sacks, 6 interceptions and 2 defensive touchdowns.? Thats good enough to consider starting them against most opponents, but against the Los Angeles Rams, it requires no thought.? The Rams have allowed opponent defenses to score 37 fantasy points over their last three games, so this is quite simply a hot defense going against an ice-cold offense.? Expect a double-digit point total for the Dolphins this week. -- K.D.Detroit Lions The Lions have produced at least two sacks in all but one game this season and at least four fantasy points as a D/ST in five of their past six games. The real promotion angle here is the fact the sloppy Jacksonville offense makes its way to Motown this week, as the Jags have turned the ball over on 15.7 percent of their drives this season, the fifth-highest rate in the league. With Blake Bortles attending the Matt Schaub Academy of Pick-Sixes this season, there is real upside and an underrated floor present for this streaming defensive group. -- J.M.Individual defensive players?Linebacker ?Deone Bucannon, Arizona Cardinals A hybrid safety and linebacker early in his career, Bucannon is now a full-time backer who is proving particularly productive of late. His magnetic ability to get to the ball-carrier has led to 48 tackles over the past five games, fifth most at the position over this stretch. You can find this rangy linebacker for free in nearly 80 percent of ESPN leagues, while an upcoming matchup with a Vikings offense that sticks to short-yardage passing could feed Bucannon another nice batch of tackle opportunities. -J.M.Defensive back ?Kevin Byard, Tennessee Titans This Middle Tennessee State product has played on 77 percent of the Titans defensive snaps from the free safety spot over the past three weeks, leading to 23 tackles and a sack in the process. Available in 100 percent of ESPN leagues, Byard is a nice plug-and-play option against the pass-happy Colts while some top defensive backs are on bye this week. -- J.M.Defensive line?Chandler Jones, Arizona CardinalsAvailable in nearly two-thirds of ESPN leagues, Jones is regularly ranked in the top three among defensive lineman thanks to his production role as an outside-edge rusher for Arizona. With the Vikings offensive line proving porous this season, Jones is a strong acquisition for Week 11. -- J.M. ' ' '
