SEATTLE -- Tim Lincecums return to Seattle may end up being his final turn in the Los Angeles Angels rotation.Another rough start. Another outing with more questions about his future.I think we havent really digested some stuff, but were going to have to see what it is to get him where he needs to be, Angels manager Mike Scioscia said, adding were going to have to sit down and review his video and see where the positives were and see what we are.Lincecum gave up six runs in the first inning, capped by Mike Zuninos three-run homer that led the Seattle Mariners to a 6-4 win over the Angels on Friday night.Pitching in his hometown for just the second time in his career, Lincecum almost didnt make it out of the first inning after giving up seven hits and bringing 10 batters to the plate. Lincecum was already teetering in the Angels rotation, and Fridays rough start could finally lead them to make a move. It was his third straight start giving up at least four earned runs.I feel like Im in the direction I need to go. I just need to get on the horse and ride it again, Lincecum said. That goes back to being aggressive in the zone and when I get 0-2 to be aggressive down in the zone.Lincecum was given a 3-0 lead after Mike Trouts 20th home run of the season and his sixth career long ball off Felix Hernandez in the top of the first. But the lead was short-lived. Seattle started with four straight singles, including an RBI base hit by Robinson Cano. After a pop out, Adam Lind singled following by Leonys Martins sacrifice fly that was deep enough to score Cano from third.Zunino followed with one of the more impressive at-bats of his young career. After falling behind 0-2, Zunino fouled off a pair of pitches then watched Lincecum miss low with three straight changeups. He didnt miss the fourth changeup thrown at his knees. Its just a process of being in those situations in the minor leagues and trusting yourself, getting into an 0-2 count and being able to work it back, Zunino said.Lincecum finished 3 1/3 innings, giving up nine hits and six earned runs. The six runs in the first were the most allowed in a single inning in Lincecums career. Our goal is to get Tim right. Thats our goal, Scioscia said. Like any player youre always looking for the avenue to get there, but this guys worked hard and hes showed some signs.Hernandez (6-4) settled down after the first. He retired 12 of the next 13 after Trouts homer and picked up his second win since coming off the disabled list.Hernandez allowed a double to Yunel Escobar on the first pitch of the game, Trouts homer two batters later and a solo shot by Jett Bandy leading off the fifth. Otherwise, the Angels could not solve Hernandez, who struck out six and walked three. Hernandez completed eight innings for the first time this season and first since Sept. 10, 2015 against Texas.Rookie Edwin Diaz struck out the side in the ninth for his third save in three chances.TROUT HONORWith his 20th homer, Trout became the fifth player in American League history with five seasons of 20 or more home runs before his age-25 season. I love going out there with him, competing with him. Even at practice man, he wants to win at everything he does and I like that because thats how I am and just knowing that when he gets the ball in his hands he can take it the distance.David Bonagura kicked three second-half field goals, including two in the final 5:30, in keeping new coach Chris Ash unbeaten at home.Daryl Chestnut scored on a 19-yard run, Austin Apodaca threw a 36-yard TD pass to Patrick Reed and Lamar Jordan scored on a 52-yard run in giving the Lobos (1-2) a 21-0 lead late in the first quarter. After beating South Dakota, New Mexico blew a 31-22 fourth-quarter lead after New Mexico State last weekend and gave away an even bigger margin this week. The Lobos had a chance to rally late last week and game up short. They came back from a 10-point deficit this week and also came up short.RUTGERS: With the Big Ten Conference season starting next week, Rutgers has to get off to better starts if it wants to be competitive. The Scarlet Knights fell behind No. 8 Washington 24-0 and trailed in both games at home.Cant say enough about our players, for the second week in a row, we come out of the gate and we get down but nobody flinched, Ash said. Everybody believes in themselves, in each other, in our plan, and we just kept going. We made the plays that we needed to.BULLET: Ash is going to be second guessed after inserting quarterback Zach Allen into the game in the fourth quarter with Rutgers leading 31-28 with 7:48 to play. There seemed to be nothing wrong with Laviano. The Scarlet Knights got a 33-yard field goal from Bonagura but that was set by an unsportsmanlike penalty against the Lobos.UP NEXTNEW MEXICO: The Lobos have a bye week and face San Jose State at home in their Mountain West Conference opener on Oct. 1.RUTGERS: The Scarlet Knights play their third straight home game and face No.13 Iowa in their Big Ten Conference opener on Sept. 24.---AP College Football Website: www.collegefootball.org ' ' '
