BOSTON -- Despite serious injuries to key players, the Buffalo Sabres ran up a 4-1-2 road record to start the season. The Boston Bruins, who missed the playoffs for a second straight year last season because of poor home play, are 1-3-0 on home ice to start the new season (6-5-0 overall). On Monday night, when the two old Adams Division foes meet at TD Garden, Buffalo (5-4-2 overall) will be coming off a 2-1 victory at Ottawa Saturday night while the Bruins were thumped 5-2 by the New York Rangers on home ice.Robin Lehner was outstanding in goal for the Sabres -- who lost Jack Eichel and Evander Kane early and Zach Bagosian recently -- Saturday, his 32-save performance the key to the fourth road win of the year. Last year, Buffalo, which finished dead last in the NHL, was 9-29-3 away from home.Lehner beat his old team Saturday. No matter who we played today, it was a win we needed, he said after the game. We dont want to lose two in a row. I think we can learn a few things from this game, but the way we came out in the third after our first goal and the big (penalty kill) we had, we can take some positives too.Lehner is 4-3-1 with a 2.14 goals against average and .929 save percentage this season -- and is 3-6-3 with a 2.64 goals against average and .925 save percentage lifetime against Boston. The Bruins, who won the last three of a four-game road trip, yielded two shorthanded goals and one power play score to suffer another home loss on Saturday. They were just 17-18-6 at home last season -- again barely missing the playoffs. We were feeling good about our game, said defenseman Torey Krug. We didnt play well (but won) in Florida, but Detroit and Tampa, we played well. We wanted to use that momentum to move on into our building. We started out well. I thought, five-on-five, we played a pretty good game. We played fast; we were getting a majority of the chances. I thought their goaltender played well. Like I said, the power play let us down. Two goals against, no goals for, thats a big part of it. For a while now, thats been a big part of our team, that power play. Right now, were not getting the results. The Bruins have scored just three power play goals, while surrendering three shorthanded scores.Tuukka Rask suffered his first loss in the Boston net in seven games this season. He didnt play well and may have tweaked the lower body injury that caused him to miss four games. With a Tuesday date in Montreal waiting, it wouldnt be a shock to see rookie Zane McIntyre in goal for his second NHL start Monday. The Sabres worked out at the Bruins new practice facility Sunday. Sam Reinhart, who scored the winning goal Saturday, turned 21 and got a face full of shaving cream from teammate Marcus Foligno during the practice.Thats Marcus for you, Reinhart told the Buffalo News. I was kind of wrestling with (Matt) Moulson in the corner, so I didnt see it coming. It was stuck in the ear a little bit, but a shower helped.Said Foligno: He doesnt know whats going on around him most of the time, so it was pretty easy.Tyler Ennis and Dmitry Kulikov both missed the Buffalo practice Sunday, but just to rest. Asked if he expects both to play Monday, coach Dan Bylsma said, I expect them to play well. The Bruins, who canceled Sunday practice, won three of the four games between the teams last season but the Sabres took three of a possible four points in the two games in Boston.Eric Hosmer Padres Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla.LONDON -- Given that Roger Federer already owns seven Wimbledon championships, it really should not shock anyone that he made it back to the semifinals for the 11th time. And yet, for various reasons, even Federer himself did not expect to still be in action at Centre Court on the grass-court tournaments second Friday, facing Milos Raonic for a berth in the title match.Federer is, lets remember, a month shy of his 35th birthday, an age at which no man has made it to the final at the All England Club since Ken Rosewall was 39 in 1974.And its been four full years since Federer last won a Grand Slam title, at Wimbledon in 2012.More relevant, though, is what he has endured this season. In February, Federer had surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee, the first operation of his professional tennis career. Hes dealt with recurring back problems. He sat out the French Open, ending a record streak of 65 consecutive appearances at major tournaments dating to the start of 2000.And he came to Wimbledon with only a 16-6 match record and zero titles in 2016, the first time since 2000 that he went this far into a season without winning a tournament.I was very worried coming here, the third-seeded Federer acknowledged after saving three match points and coming back from a two-set deficit to beat Marin Cilic 6-7 (4), 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (9), 6-3 in the quarterfinals Wednesday.Yes, he added a moment later, I did surprise myself, in quite a big way, actually. In Fridays second semifinal, No. 2 Andy Murray will meet No. 10 Tomas Berdych.Murray lost to Federer in the 2012 final at Wimbledon, then won the trophy a year later, the first British man to do since Fred Perry in 1936.Berdych was the runner-up to Rafael Nadal in 2010, his only appearance in a Grand Slam final, after beating Federer and Novak Djokovic along the way. That was the first time (I showed) myself that I can play well for two weeks, Berdych said. I can beat the beest guys, not only at the beginning of the tournament, but also in the later stages.ddddddddddddMurray, who has won his last four matches against Berdych, is more familiar with this territory. This will be his seventh semifinal at Wimbledon and 20th at a major. He has participated in 10 Grand Slam finals, facing Federer or Djokovic each time, and winning twice.Like Federer, Murray played five sets in the quarterfinals, although he took the first two sets against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, then dropped the next two, before pulling away in the last. That was a really hard, hard match to come through. I think it can give you a bit of confidence. It can help to go through games and stages in matches that are challenging, said Murray, who recently reunited with Ivan Lendl, his coach when he won his two major trophies. If youre in that position in the next couple of matches, you know youve been there.Raonic also has a past Grand Slam champion and former No. 1-ranked man in his corner. Two, actually. Already being coached by Carlos Moya, who won the 1998 French Open, and Ricardo Piatti, Raonic has added three-time Wimbledon winner John McEnroe as a consultant.During an initial phone conversation about the partnership, Raonic said, he and McEnroe each pointed out what they thought could be improved.Obviously, being more effective coming forward was a big thing on my side. A big thing on his side was demeanor on the court, presence on the court, the sixth-seeded Raonic said. Both those things have been given quite a bit of attention. This is the 25-year-old Canadians second Wimbledon semifinal. The other also came against Federer, who beat Raonic in straight sets two years ago.Im happy, Raonic said, that I have another shot at him.---Follow Howard Fendrich on Twitter at http://twitter.com/HowardFendrich ' ' '
